Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal targets the problem at the root. Literally. The laser beam targets the hair follicle and gently zaps it therefore destroying its ability to regenerate. Because the laser is attracted to the dark color of the hair follicle it is only absorbed by the follicle and amazingly leaves the surrounding tissue unharmed. Each strand of hair cycles through "growth" and "dormant" phases; because during the "dormant" phase the follicle" has no pigment, several treatments will be needed. At each session all strands of hair in the growth stage will be permanently treated.

Prior to your laser hair removal treatment the area to be treated will be shaved and covered with a cooling gel as applicable. For more sensitive patients, anesthetic creams can be applied prior to the treatment. Throughout the treatment, a specialized air cooler will cool the treatment site, diminishing discomfort. The laser hand-piece will be pressed against the skin and bursts of laser will zap the hair. Each burst will feel like the snapping of an elastic band on the skin. Immediately after the treatment the skin will look slightly irritated or swollen. This will recede within a few hours of the treatment.

Remember, the fees paid for Laser Hair Removal in a physician-supervised clinic such as ours may be a tax-deductible medical expense for you.
